Villa Bianca is a breathtakingly beautiful villa, located directly on Menaggio's lake front. It is unique in the fact that it is the only lake front villa in Menaggio, one of Lake Como's most popular towns.
A well established period property and garden that has unique features and furniture and is beautifully proportioned. This is a large residence suitable for a family or group of friends. The style is a mix of Italian Classic, English Country with a touch of New England, which combine so beautifully. Each room is a gem!
Villa Bianca is entered by elaborate gates and has a large cobblestone courtyard suitable for parking cars. The private portico entrance offers a unique passageway to the secret garden within and eventually reaches the villa with its store of treasures awaiting discovery.
The garden is a delightful lake facing space with a well tended lawn and planting. The view from the garden allows you to look over to Bellagio or Varenna with uninterrupted views. There is also a portico for relaxing, dining or serving drinks or perhaps a moment of shade.
The lake front terrace has direct access to the lake for swimming and diving. Fishing is also permitted.
The entrance to the villa takes you up a small flight of steps that are richly decorated in foliage. As you reach the front door the entrance welcomes you to the charm of the property. The Entrance Hall is large and grand and befitting of a property from this period, houses antiques and heirlooms.
From the entrance Hall you enter the Living Room which spreads across the whole lake facing back of the property. A wonderful and enormous fireplace is the focal point for this large entertaining room. Decorative arched windows and French doors open up directly onto the lake front terrace.
Back to the entrance hall, to the right is the character filled country kitchen with its vast collection of old fashioned utensils decorating its walls. The kitchen is fully equipped and also has an eating area for breakfast or more informal meals.
There is also a formal dining room on the ground floor with beautiful floor to ceiling panelled windows. The back garden and portico can also be accessed from the Dining Room should you decide to eat outside.
There is also a small, cosy TV room ideally placed on the ground floor.
Upstairs are three double bedrooms all with their own en suite bathroom and again original period features.
Bedroom 1: a double bed overlooking the garden. Spacious and comfortable
Bedroom 2: a double bed overlooking the garden and the lake and opening onto a balcony facing the lake. Amazing View.
Bedroom 3: a queen-size bed, overlooking the garden and lake. This bedroom also has access to the lake facing balcony.
Villa Bianca is ideally placed in a wonderful town with plenty of amenities such as great restaurants and bars. The central but very private position of Villa Bianca is the perfect retreat for your Lake Como holiday......you may just not want to go home!
Menaggio is the largest town of the central lake area. It is also a part of the Triangolo Lariano orThe Lario Triangle. Lario is the Latin name of the lake. The triangle connects Menaggio. Varenna and Belaggio, the most popular villages. It is also the more "lived in" village of the area with offices, shops, banks, schools and a hospital. So not only will you be ab;e to mingle with tourists from all over the world you will also be surrounded by locals, so you will get the feeling of the Italian life style.
Menaggio's lake front promenade is one of the nicest on the lake. Beautifully taken care of by the gardeners with expansive areas of planting including porticos, ideal for a famous Lake Como photo.
Walk the length of the promenade and you will reach the largest Lido on the lake, Lido Giardino Menaggio. A great place for a day trip to the beach and comprising a 25 metre swimming pool with a kiddy pool as well, large beach with sun loungers, lake access, beach volley, playground and a pizzeria restaurant and brewery to enjoy a meal or an evening.
Menaggio is an old Roman town and has a wonderful antique historic centre that begins down at the lake and continues up the hillside to the old walls of the Castle. Unfortunately there isn't much remaining of the original building but the Church of San Carlo is well worth a visit. The best thing to do is to take advantage of the Tourist office in the main Square, Piazza Garibaldi. Here you will find Matilde or Sandra who are very helpful and will give you all the information you need such as timetables, brochures, maps and indications on "what to do today". You will realize that It is well served by public transportation with frequent buses and boats. Como is only 25km away and Lugano 20km, but do remember your passport as it is in Switzerland!
Make sure you visit the surrounding villages or Porlezza on your way to Lugano. A string of villages creep up the mountain on your way there. They are known as the "Piccolo Mondo Antico" the small antique world. Also the Tremezzina area must not be missed. It goes from Tremezzo to Lenno.....wonderful little villages all on the lake with beautiful Villas to visit - Carlotta and Balbianello being the most famous.. Amble along and discover these villages and their historic centres.
Bellagio and Varenna are surely not to be missed whilst you are visiting Lake Como. Bellagio although a mecca for tourists does have some lovely lanes and an historic centre that is well worth visiting. Another sight seeing trip there is to visit Violla Melzi.
Varenna is very lovely village just across the lake with a wonderful lake side promenade, very original and of course do visit the Villa Monastero.
This is just a small number of suggestions whilst in Lake Como. LoveComo offer a fee concierge service so please do not hesitate to ask if you require assistance with booking restaurants or trips.
